Höganäs offers a full range of nickel and iron based BrazeLet® filler metals for high temperature brazing. Typically our brazing alloys are used to join stainless steel components like exhaust gas recirculation coolers (EGR), boilers, metal catalytic converters, waste heat recovery (WHR), heavy-duty oil coolers, brazed-plate-heat exchangers (BPH) or components for coffee machines.

High temperature brazing

It is important to understand the purpose of the brazing profile in order to optimize a brazing process. Some of the steps are not always necessary and others may require additional complexity to yield the best possible brazing results. Typically all brazing profiles contain a burn-off hold at 450°C which is long enough to guarantee that the entire batch has reached temperature. It is also common to include a homogenization step before melt initiates in order to make certain that the entire batch is of equal temperature before passing the solidus temperature of the brazing alloy. 

A hold time at brazing temperature is also recommended, although shorter in duration than the previous steps, as temperature should be relatively even in the furnace at this stage. Fast cooling is recommended because it is usually required for the joined material and less so for the brazing alloys.
